The Sights of a Poured Earth Home

Borrego Springs Project

Borrego Springs Architectural rendering

4 Zero-energy demonstration homes designed by Michael Frerking for Clarum Homes are being built 85 miles northeast of San Diego in the Sonoran Desert. Clarum's goal in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America Progam, ConSol and Davis Energy Group is to design and build highly energy efficient sustainable entry level and one-move-up housing that achieve 90% energy reduction in cooling.

This project will collect data on:
Cost, Construction Schedule, Production Feasibility, Energy Efficiency, Product Lifestyles, Embodied Energy, Cost and Energy Savings.

Data will be studied to determine overall cost effectiveness of sustainable technology applied in relation to affordable entry level and one-up-housing production.
